#2 Potsdam Boys Advance To State Playoffs In Shootout Against Ogdensburg

The #2 Potsdam Sandstoners fend off the #1 Ogdensburg Blue Devils in the Section 10 Class B Championship soccer game by the score of 2-1. The halftime score was 1-0. The two teams were name co-champions. The Sandstoners came on strong as Scott Bartenstein tallied the opening goal off a pass from a href='/players/profile/1756/team/38'>T.J. Rimmer to give Potsdam a 1-0 lead. Then, Ogdensburg's Jake Rishe passed the ball to Alex Bender who found the net just 4 minutes into the second half to tie the game. There was no scoring during the two overtimes, so it came down to a shootout. Ogdensburg's Prudhomme tallied on goal, but Potsdam's Adams and Rimmer each made their shots to advance the Sandstoners to the State playoffs. Nick Monast stopped 11 shots on goal for Potsdam. Tyler Carrow made 8 saves on goal in the losing effort for Ogdensburg. Potsdam will travel to play the winner of Section 2 for the first round of the state games on Wednesday.
